Congo To Appeal Sebastien Migne Compensation At CAS

Congo will appeal the FIFA ruling directing Federation Congolaise de Football (FECOFOOT) to pay former Red Devils coach Sebastien Migne €474,000 Euros for breach of contract.

Sports Minister Hugues Ngouélondélé disclosed on Tuesday that the government is preparing to lodge an appeal at the Switzerland-based Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

Migne, who was named as Red Devils coach in March 2017, penned a two-year contract which would have seen him €5,000 euros per month.

On July 14 this year FIFA directed FECOFOOT to pay the 47-year-old, within 30 days, the €474,000 euros plus 5 percent per annum of the said amount up to the end of the deal.

But, Ngouélondélé says Migne unilaterally broke his contract because he had already signed another with the Kenya national team.

“We will defend ourselves because I am against injustice. As long as there is injustice, I will fight to the end, ” said Ngouélondélé.

Migne replaced compatriot Pierre Lenchantre as Congo national team coach before resigning from the position after twelve months citing lack of pay for five months.

But the Frenchman failed in the seven international games as he only managed to win one against Guinea Bissau.

FIFA could take yet to be specified sanctions against the federation including barring Congo from the 2022 World Cup qualifiers or a blanket ban from football.
