Guinea Coach Didier Six Finally Signs Contract

The Guinea Football Federation (Feguifoot) has at long last handed national team head coach Didier Six a working contract.

The 65-year-old Frenchman had been working without a written contract since his appointment as Gabon coach in September last year.

The length of Six’s contract is still unclear at this stage, but it is likely he will stay on until the end of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In a past interview with Conakry media, Feguifoot president Antoni Souare said that Six had clear objectives.

“We have very good players around the world. It is his managerial ability that will bring out the best in this group. His main aim is to qualify for the next AFCON and take a stub at the 2022 World Cup. We have a lot of players who have accepted to play for Guinea,” he said.

Six replaced Paul Put after the conclusion of the AFCON 2019 finals in Egypt where the Syli Nationale lost in the Round of 16 to Algeria.

Six has already taken charge of three international matches for Guinea.

He has won one against Namibia while drawing one other against Mali in the team’s opening match of Afcon 2021 campaign.

Guinea are joint Group A leaders with Mali on four points. Namibia are third with three points while Chad top the table without a point.

The Syli Nationale will next play Chad in March in a back to back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
