Malick Niang: I Was Drugged When I Lost To Ama Balde

Malick Niang today made an extraordinary claim that he was drugged in the lead up to his defeat to Ama Balde.

The two squared in 2014 with Malick tipped to be the favourite but incredibly ended up biting the dust.

In that duel that had Ama making a comeback from his shock loss to Gouye Gui, Malick appeared seized by overconfidence, unleashing blows before being outdone by Ama and pinned in the sands face down.

Since then, he has been without combat amid reports linking him to Tapha Tine.

And opening up on that setback, he said: “I was drugged with an energy drink by a friend of mine from my camp who said he got it from the US. I saw him add capsules to it. He said it was going to help me. I trusted him but after I took it just before entering the arena, I felt dizzy and I wasn’t feeling my legs.”

Grilled over whether he wasn’t speaking out of bitterness, he responded: “I am not saying this to dirty Ama’s victory. Ama is now ahead of me as he is set to fight the king of the arena. Factually speaking, I have now gotten rid of that “friend” out of my camp since.”

The Senegalese arena is this minute dogged by combat drought with Ama Balde versus king of arena Modou Lo the only fight being proposed.
