Malian Striker Ismail Dirra Wants Out Of Leopards

AFC Leopards forward Ismail Diarra has tabled a request to ditch the club citing unpaid dues by the Kenyan Premier League side.

Diarra joined Ingwe in June 2019 on a one year contract from Algerian side CABB Arreridj, where he played just 595 minutes of football in 14 appearances last season.

The player is now seeking to end his stay with 13-time Kenyan league champions and according to reliable sources, Diarra as written a letter to the club that was copied to KPL requesting for termination of his contract due to unpaid dues by the club.

“He has asked to leave the club because he feels like the team officials dumped him in a deep hole. No payment for months now making it hard to live in Kenya. He is afraid that he might be thrown out of the rental house,” a source told Ducor Sports.

Diarra has featured for the club for only three league matches and on all occasions, the striker has come under fire from the club’s fans due to his poor form.

Early this month, Leopards players boycotted training to protest over delayed monthly salaries dating back two months.

The team management also owes the players winning allowances dating back to the 2018/2019 league season.

Leopards’ financial problems emanate from the sudden withdrawal of SportPesa as the club’s jersey sponsor.

The gaming firm pumped Sh55 million into this club each year but was forced to exit the Kenyan market in September following a tax row with government.
