2019 AFCON Qualifiers: Mozambique Wins its First Competitive Match Since 2004

Mozambique made history after recording its first win over Zambia with Stanley Ratifo scoring the only goal of the match in the 90th minute for the Mambas.

Zambia appeared more eager to win the game, wasting no time and attacked from the get go but missed three chances in the opening 25 minutes with Fwayo Tembo failing to hit the target twice; his header and shot also going wide.

Mozambique’s first chance came in the 27th minute but an unmarked Pembele sent his shot wide.

In the second half, Zambia’s Mtonga saw his attempt hit the post and the Zambians were made to rue their missed chances when Mozambique through Ratifo, from a close range, found the back of the net in the process, making history for Mozambique.
