Under-fire Coach Quits Stunted Tunisian Club, Etoile Sportive Zarzis.

Beleaguered manager, Mounir Rached has ended his ten-year love affair with Tunisian Premier League side, Etoile Sportive Zarzis. Rached resigned on Monday after failing to win a single match in the thirteen league matches he’d overseen as Zarzis coach.

Mounir’s position began to be untenable after going five games without winning prompting fans to put up banners calling for his dismissal. The board had kept faith in him hoping for a light to emerge at end of the tunnel however, matters merely continued to turn worst in each of his outings with a draw against Club Africain last Sunday being the last straw.

A meeting was summoned in the aftermath of the Sunday encounter where the board, out of respect for Mounir’s long-standing relationship with the side, suggested he resign to save the club from plummeting any further.

The Tunisian-born gaffer heeded the call and on Monday announced he’s leaving. An interim coach is expected to be named Tuesday (today) or this week.

Mounir, whose favored system is 4-5-1, was appointed last November after previously serving as the team’s Sporting Director, assistant, and youth coach.

ES Zarzis sits second-from-bottom collecting just six points, losing seven of their thirteen games.
