Zambia’s Lungu Eying 17-goal Feat for SuperSport

South Africa-based Zambian star Gamphani Jones Lungu has set his sights on scoring at least 17 goals in his debut season for South African Premier Soccer League outfit Supersport United.

Lungu scored the same number of goals and made 23 assists in 2017 to lead National Assembly FC back to the Zambian Super League before moving to Power Dynamos where he spent five months prior to his move to join The Swanky Boys.

he told Ducorsports in an exclusive interview from his base in South Africa.

The 19-year-old made his full debut last Saturday against Orlando Pirates in an MTN 8 encounter, playing in an unusual right-back position, stepping in for Grant Kekana who failed a late fitness test and put in a decent shift.

Lungu is confident SuperSport can retain the Nedbank and MTN titles it won in 2017.

“Yes we can definitely retain it and we are not giving it up without a fight,” he said.

The defending champions, Supersport United will host 2014/15 Champions, Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday, 25th August at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe in the first-leg of the semi-final before traveling to Johannesburg.
