Zamalek Star In Prolonged Contract Talks

A decision is pending on the Zamalek star Ferjani Sassi whose future with the club is currently in discussion, Ducor Sports can reveal.

The Tunisian international’s deal with the White Knights is set to expire at the end of the season, with Qatar side Al-Duhail and Sudanese giants Al Hilal understood to be ready to snatch him.

But the Egyptian football giants have an option to extend the 29-year-old’s contract by another year and are believed to be willing to exercise it.

“ The club is still in talks with Sassi over extending his stay at the club, however the two parties are yet to reach an agreement,” a source revealed to Ducor Sports.

“Any interest right now is going to be made through Zamalek,or are made through Zamalek. So I can’t really confirm that question [if it’s true that Al-Duhail or Al Hilal are interested].”

Zamalek are reported to have placed € 1.2million on the table for a one-year contract extension but Sassi representatives are insisting on €2.4 million annually.

Sassi has been with the White Knights for three years having joined the club in 2018 from Saudi Arabian outfit Al Nasr.

He has been a pillar Zamalek’s success since his arrival, helping them win the CAF Confederation Cup, the Egypt Cup, the CAF Super Cup, and the Egyptian Super Cup.

His contract with Zamalek will expire next June, and he is currently free to negotiate with any team during the final six months of his contract.
