Zamalek Announce Squad for Champions League Match against Tusker

Zamalek boss Patrice Carteron has revealed the team’s squad for the second preliminary round of African Champions League match against Tusker FC.

The two teams will face off on Saturday night at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi in the first leg of the preliminary round and they will meet again in the second leg a week later in Egypt.

The White Knights hope to knock out Tusker FC from the first round and qualify for the group stages of the competition.

Ahmed Fetouh, Mahmoud El-Wensh, Tarek Hamed, Ahmed Sayed Zizo are some of the big names in the squad that returning from Egyptian national team duty against Libya.

Majority of other members of the squad are also familiar faces that played for the club in the previous domestic league season as they are currently serving a FIFA transfer ban.

The Cairo giants were banned in May from two transfer windows and fined the team $200,000 for signing youngster Hossam Ashraf after he had already signed for a Cameroonian academy.

They Egyptian side had made three signings this summer and hoped the ban would be lifted and complete their moves before the closure of the transfer window.

The ban has forced the technical bench to include five junior players namely Hossam Abdelmeguid, Ahmed Zaki, Hamdi Alaa, El-Sayed Abdallah ‘Neymar’ and Seif Gaafar.

Goalkeepers: Mohamed Awad, Mohamed Abogabal.

Defenders: Mahmoud Hamdy El-Wensh, Mahmoud Alaa, Ahmed Fatouh, Hamza Mathlouthi, Hazem Emam, Abdallah Gomaa, Hossam Abdelmeguid, Ahmed Zaki.

Midfielders: Tarek Hamed, Mohamed Ashraf Rouka, Mahmoud Abdelaziz, Eslam Gaber, Emam Ashour, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Achraf Bencharki, Mahmoud Shikabala, Hamdi Alaa, El-Sayed Abdallah ‘Neymar’, Seif Gaafar.

Forwards: Youssef Obama and Seifeddine Jaziri.
