Yanga, Simba Fire Blanks In Dull Kariakoo Derby

In front of thousands of fans at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, the Kariakoo Derby pitting eternal rivals Yanga and Simba  ended a dull affair on Saturday as none of the sides could find the back of the net.

The first chance on goal came as early as the second minute when Feisal Salum let fly from distance, but his shot went wide of the Simba goal.

Ten minutes later Yanga were at it again when Saido Ntibazonkiza a cross with a strong header, but he saw his effort well-saved by the keeper.

On the half hour mark the captain, Mohamed Hussein, unleashed a powerful shot form the edge of the box, but saw his effort deflected just wide by Yanga defender Bakari Mwamnyeto.

Simba ended the half the stronger of the two sides, though, when Clatous Chama struck the side netting from an acute angle on the right.

Yanga started the second half positively with Fiston Mayele skimmed the post with a long distance shot three minutes after the restart.

Ten minutes later Kadi was at it again when he worked himself into space just outside the box, but once more he shot wide of goal.

Yanga continued to dictate the flow of play, but their decision making in the final third was poor as the game ended goalless.
