Wydad Athletic Mute After Esperance Tunis Received Champions League Winning Prize

Wydad Athletic Club are still to comment after latest decision to hand rivals Esperance du Tunis the CAF Champions League winners’ prize.

The Tunisian moneybags got paid US$2.5M on the heels of a long back and forth.

The development comes much as an upset for Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club who had their appeal against Esperance reportedly thrown out of the window.

The disbursement of the funds, sources from Tunisia say, represents an end of the road for Wydad’s hopes of having the winning verdict of the referee rescinded.

The Moroccan outfit are understandably umbraged by the move but are yet to issue a dispatch.

Meanwhile, in a separate development and in efforts toward marching further the feat they’ve attained last year, the Rabat-based side have bolstered their ranks with the arrival of Paul Put, former Guinean Conakry’s gaffer sacked for extorting players wages during the previous Africa Cup of Nations.
