Wunderkind Austin Extolled for Hat-trick

Austin Muwowo receives praise from his coach for his hat-trick.

Austin Muwowo has come in for adulations from his gaffer after he netted a hat-trick in his third game for his new Zambian side Forest Rangers.

Muwowo shut down Kitwe United first with a delectable direct free-kick before plastering in a header and wrapping up the show with a penalty goal as Forest Rangers routed mid-table occupants Kitwe United.

And for his exploits, Austin has come in for praises from his coach Perry Mutapa.

Mutapa believes Muwowo will be a significant player for his team as he fits in the team’s system.

“Austin Muwowo had a wonderful game today.  To score a hat-trick in your third game is just marvelous,” Mutapa said.

“I think he will be one of our key players.  We brought in three players during the mid-season transfer window and he is one of the two players who have played three games. We did not press the panic button because we knew the player we wanted,” he added.

The Zambia U20 national team assistant coach is hoping they can make Muwowo’s deal permanent but admits it’s not up to him to make the decision.

“Of course if you have a player who can play like that why not?  Even when he was coming here, I thought we would sign him permanently. If we can sign him on a permanent deal that would be good, but it’s not up to me,” he said.
