Wilfred Ndidi Wins Big at Leicester’s Player of the Season Awards

Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi was among the big winners at Leicester’s Player of the Season Awards.

The 20-year-old versatile midfielder who joined in January was voted Leicester’s Young Player of the Season ahead of England youth internationals Demarai Gray and Ben Chilwell.

Since switching from Belgian outfit Genk in a deal worth £18m, the defensive midfielder has been a crucial part of the team’s resurgence earning him comparisons to Premier League greats like Patrick Viera and Kolo Toure.

Ndidi told LFCTV.

“Everybody around me is trying their best to help me settle here so a lot of credit goes to the coach, staff, and everyone here.”

Since joining the Foxes in the winter transfer window, Ndidi has featured 15 times in the premier league, twice in the FA Cup and was also instrumental in two of the side’s surprise Champion’s League knockout performances.

The other winners included goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel taking home Leicester Players’ Player of the Year award for the second year running.

Danny Drinkwater won Goal of the Year for his screamer against Liverpool in March while crowd favorite and captain Wes Morgan won Best Performance of the Season for his outstanding display in Leicester City’s memorable second round Champions league win over Sevilla.
