We Must Win Vita Game, Says ‘Calm’ Al Ahly Coach

Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane says that their next African Champions League Group A clash against AS Vita is a must-win game.

The Red Devils were held to a 2-2 draw by the Black Dolphins in the first leg on Saturday 6 March slowly killing their dreams of defending their African title.

Speaking in per-match conference, Mosimane said they must win against AS Vita in their match-day four game set to be played at Stade de Matyrs.

“We must win tomorrow’s game against AS Vita Club, as we have to win the three points in order to continue our journey of defending the title,” said Mosimane.

“We played a very good game against AS Vita Club in Cairo, but this is football. We were held to a 2-2 draw after missing a lot of scoring chances in the game.”

The South African coach added that they took their first training in DR Congo on Sunday but worked out under adverse weather conditions.

“We are facing a lot of obstacles during our trip to Congo, such as the very hot weather and the high levels of humidity. However, these difficulties will motivate us to achieve an important victory tomorrow,” added Mosimane.

“We are suffering from a lot of absences, but any player in Al Ahly can represent the team in the best possible way.

“I will not include any injured player in the game’s squad list unless the team’s doctor confirms with me that the player is ready to play.

“I am well prepared for tomorrow’s game and I focused on the small details in order to achieve the victory against AS Vita Club.”

Al Ahly play away against AS Vita on Tuesday 16 March before traveling to Sudan to face El Merrikh on Friday 2 April.

The Red Devils currently sit third with four points, just behind second-placed Vita Club on goal difference and three behind leaders Simba, while El-Merrikh are bottom with just one point.
