Wasteful JKT Held By Yanga In Dodoma

JKT Tanzania and Yanga shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in a Vodacom Premier League match played on Wednesday afternoon at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, Tanzania.

The home side started positively with some swift interplay between Jabir Stima and Adam Adam which resulted in them playing Mwinyi Kazimoto into a space inside the box, but he fired over from 14-yards out.

The game fell into a bit of a lull after that with both teams squandering possession due to poor passing in the final third.

Yanga had the next decent effort on goal when Deus Kaseke met a cross from Said Juma, but the former saw his shot from just inside the box go inches over the crossbar.

JKT continued probing, but Metacha Mnata once again thwarted the danger from Kelvin Nashon, amongst others.

The Abdallah Mohamed’s coached side hit the front at the 36th minute courtesy of star player Michael Aidan who hit a sublime 20-yard volley to put JKT 1-0.

Yanga went close to getting an equalizer in the 42nd but Abdulrahman Mohamed was on hand to deny Lamine Moro with a superb save in a one-on-one situation.

JKT were the better team at the start of the second half and came close to scoring just after the hour mark when Hassan Mwatarema broke through on goal, but he was superbly denied in a one-on-one with Metacha Mnata.

Kazimoto then released a bicycle kick six minutes later, sending the ball towards Nashon’s way but his header missed the target.

Patrick Sibomana then levelled matters against the run of play, after beating the offside trap, and he made no mistake with a clinical finish.

Both sides went down to ten men after the referee sent Lamine Moro and Mwinyi Kazimoto for an early shower.

Despite the hosts of injuries also affecting the home side, they continued to dictate play for most of the closing minutes but clear-cut chances were hard to come by for Abdallah Mohamed charges.
