Vipers SC and Uganda Cranes midfielder, Moses Waiswa will miss this year’s African Cup of Nations after picking a knee injury.

The attacking midfielder has been with the rest of Cranes squad in Abu Dhabi in readiness for the competition and was one of players coach Sebastien Desabre was thought to be building the team around.

Waiswa picked an injury in training and FUFA has now confirmed that the midfielder will miss the bi-annual tournament after picking an injury.

“Plans are underway to organise his travel back home for further treatment and recovery of the injury. It is a pity for the young man who had a dream to feature at the continent’s biggest soccer showpiece. We wish him a quick recovery,” read the statement from FUFA.

Waiswa’s injury is a huge blow to coach Desabre’s plans as the reigning Ugandan player of the year was in good form with the Venoms this season.
