Ugandan Custodian Nicholas Sebwato Quits Sofapaka

Ugandan international shot stopper Nicholas Sebwato has quit Kenyan Premier League side Sofapaka on mutual consent.

Sebwato joined the Batoto ba Mungu in January this year on a long-term deal but only lasted for eight months.

The former Bright Stars gloves man, who was regular for Sofapaka in the recently cancelled 2019/20 season, wrote the letter to the club last week requesting to leave.

Sebwato is now looking at continuing with his career elsewhere after both parties agreed to end their working relationship.

“I am now a free agent and have my clearance in my hands, which I was given at the beginning of the week. I am grateful that Elly Kalekwa gave me a chance to play for his team. Sofapaka is in the past now,” says Sebwato.

Sebwato could be on his way to Chambly after reports in Paris claimed the French Ligue 2 side is in talks with his agent over his transfer.

Sofapaka was the Ugandan’s second club outside his country after previously turning for Tanzanian side Coastal Union where he spent one season.

He has also played for KCCA, Sports Club Villa, Onduparaka and Bright Stars FC before Sofapaka snapped him up.
