Tusker FC Coach Threatens To Quit

Robert Matano has threatened to resign from his position as the head coach of Kenyan Premier League side Tusker FC alleging disrespect from some individuals in the team.

The former Sofapaka and AFC Leopards coach was re-appointed as the Brewers coach in April 2018 and has since won back-to-back KPL premiership titles with the Ruaraka-based outfit.

In a post-match match interview, Matano revealed to Nation that he has been on constant attacks from some unnamed officials of the club.

“This is a team I have struggled with but I do not think that I will be here anymore because I am not respected. There is somebody that does not need me in the team and I am not happy with that,” said Matano.

“I am a coach who knows what he is doing. I don’t depend on luck so I am happy to have proved him wrong. There are times when a team is down and those are moments in football. I said the league is a marathon and that we will win, but some people do not respect or trust me.”

When reached for comment, Tusker FC Chairman Dan Aduda stated he is currently not aware of the issue.

Tusker were crowned Kenyan Premier League champions on Sunday after beating Posta Rangers 2-0 in a match that was played at Ruaraka Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, sources indicate that Matano is likely to join another Kenyan Premier League side Police FC who have shown interest in his services.

It is also understood that  talks between the coach representative and the club has been ongoing but nothing has been confirmed yet between both parties.
