Tunisian Clubs Facing Investigation over Corruption Allegations

Two domestic league clubs in Tunisia are this week due to being probed over corruption charges. The clubs namely; AS Gabes and Stade Gabesian, are set to appear before a select committee at the Tunisian Football Association’s headquarters.

The investigation followed a complaint filed by AS Gabes accusing the Stade Gabesian’s hierarchy of trying to influence results two days before their derby clash on Sunday.

The rivalry match ended one-all but the result isn’t expected to deter the FA from pursuing its probing, a source tells Ducor Sport.

It’s not uncommon to hear stories of bribery and corruption in the Tunisian game.

In the latest trajectory, AS Gabes has lodged yet another complaint against Stade, contesting the eligibility of Ishaka Abdou and Khaled Melliti for the derby.

In other league developments, table-topping Esperance’s game with Club Africain including the match between Metloaui and Etoile du Sahel are all postponed.

Meanwhile, the Ben Guerdane-Stade Tunisien encounter went ahead unhindered with the latter winning 2-1.
