Khaled Ben Sassi will go down in the history of Tunisian football as the coach with the shortest stint following his sacking a week after being hired.

The 56-year-old oversaw only a single match as coach of stuttering top-flight outfit AS Gabes before being shoved out of the exit door by the board today.

The cause of his inexplicable dismissal has not been communicated by the club.

Kais Zouaghi has been named as a temporary replacement hinging on how he performs, reports in Tunis say.

Gabes are stuck at the eleventh place, registering just a return of three wins in sixteen games, collecting thirteen points – a position ahead of basement occupants Hammam-Lif.

On top of things is serial title winners Esperance du Tunis who lead title rivals Atletique Bizertin by seven points- having eleven victories and losing just a game since the start of the championship.
