Tunisia Midfielder Optimistic Ahead of England Clash

Tunisia midfielder Ferjani Sassi is an optimistic man ahead of their first 2018 FIFA World Cup Group G match with England at the Volgograd Stadium in Russia on Monday.

The 26-year-old who has so far won 39 caps, revealed his expectations ahead of the fixture that will mark Tunisia’s return to the global tournament after a 12-year absence.

“We’ll be looking to make a good start against England and give ourselves a confidence boost,” he said.

The former ES Tunis man, who now turns for Al-Nasr which plays in the Saudi Arabia Professional League, added that a win against Three Lions will increase their chances of finishing in the top two positions in the group.

he added.

“We’ll be going for the win in every game and our aim is to make the second round of the competition. I hope that our destiny will still be in our hands by the time we face Panama.”

The Carthage Eagles are heading into the match with an impressive record having lost just one of their last ten games going into the contest.

Tunisia and England last met in their opening group stage game of the 1998 World Cup where England won 2-0 in Marseille, France.
