News coming out of South Africa is that Ajax Cape Town midfielder, Grant Margeman, is set for a shock summer move to Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 21-year-old’s deal at Urban Warriors expires at the end of the season and sources indicate that Calvin Marlin has confirmed that he wants to leave Ajax Cape Town.

Margeman has already told his friends that he will join the Brazilians, with Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane indicating that the midfielder may soon be confirmed by the club management.

“We love Grant,” coach Mosimane said in a recent presser when asked about next transfer targets.

“But Sundowns will kill me if I reveal things,” he added. “I must wait for Sundowns make the announcement I don’t want to spoil that event.”

Margeman is seen as a potential successor for Downs captain Hlompho Kekana who is now 34 years old and in the twilight of his career.

The youngster also has experience in the topflight having been the core of the Ajax team that got relegated to the National First Division in May last year.

Margeman, who is part of SA’s Olympic qualification team, had featured in 23 matches in all competitions in the topflight the season the club was sent down to the lower tier.

He is currently out of action along with the rest of the world’s footballing community as a result of the Coronavirus.
