Erstwhile Africain Champions Club Africain of Tunisia have sent samples of their players for laboratory tests in France.

The decision to obtain samples of the players was provoked by the desire to establish how the team lost 8-0 to TP Mazembe and to ascertain what the cause was.

The board of the Tunisian Premier League side found it unfathomable that they could get whooped 8-0 in this day and believe something is amiss – a thing they’re yet to establish, reports say.

An initial examination of the players upon their return from DR Congo saw no traces of intoxication but the samples of Chiheb Salhi, Mannoubi Haddad and Anad Khemissi have been transported to an undisclosed hospital in France for further confirmation.

Kevin Mondeko, Jackson Muleka and Tresor Mputu Mabi each netted twice as Mike Miche and Elia banged in one each to wrap up a record Total CAF Champions League group stage win over the visiting North Africans.

Saturday’s loss, which inevitably attracted headlines across the globe promoting the resignation of gaffer Chiheb Ellili, left the Africain board gobsmacked.
