Thabo Motang Fired As Township Rollers Coach

Township Rollers have parted ways with head coach Thabo ”Mahala” Motang less than five months after appointing him.

In a statement on Friday morning, the Botswana Premier League giants confirmed they have put an end to his one-year contract.

“This serves to inform Ma-Popa and coach Thabo “Mahala” Motang have agreed to part ways amicably with immediate effect,” reads the statement.

“We wish to thank Mr.Motang for his precious time with us and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors.

“We are determined more than ever to get back on track and take Township Rollers to where it belongs. Happy days shall return.”

Motang was named Rollers coach in August replacing French tactician Romain Folaz after the club finished second on the premiership table.

The legend joined the club as a youth where he developed into a first-team goalkeeper and is regarded as one of the greatest keepers in Botswana.

He leaves Township Rollers in the fourth position on the Botswana Premier League table having garnered 18 points from nine matches.
