Tanzania Goalkeeper Mapigano Finally Leaves Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia goalkeeper David Mapigano has finally left the Kenyan Premier League champions for Azam FC in Tanzania.

Gor Mahia goalkeeper David Mapigano has finally left the Kenyan Premier League champions for Azam FC in Tanzania.

The 22-year-old custodian joins the Ice Cream makers from K’Ogalo after putting pen to paper on a two-year contract, hours after terminating his contract with the Kenyan side on mutual consent.

He made 35 appearances for the club in all competitions after signing a three-year contract from Singinda FC.

The Tanzanian international quit Gor Mahia after growing frustrated by non-payment of salaries amounting to thousands of dollars.

Mapigano was previously linked with another Tanzania Premier League side Yanga but the parties involved failed to reach a plausible agreement.

In that regard, Gor Mahia are now targeting a new goalkeeper as the team continues to prepare for the coming season.

The club has already roped in the services of former Nairobi City Stars goalkeeper Levis Opiyo to replace Fredrick Odhiambo who has since moved to Kenyan Premier League moneybags Wazito FC.

The urge to rope in a new keeper is being necessitated by the impending departure of Boniface Oluoch who is said to be on his way for early retirement.

Ducor Sports understands that Western Stima custodian Samuel Njau is being targeted by the record Kenyan Premier League champions as a possible replacement should Oluoch leave.
