Swallows Appoint Dylan Kerr As New Head Coach

South Africa Premier League side Swallows have officially appointed Englishman Dylan Kerr as their new head coach.

Kerr was previously in charge of Marumo Gallants last season when they were still known as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.

He replaces Brandon Truter who was fired on Sunday after their 3-1 defeat to Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs.

Speaking after his appointment, Kerr described Swallows as a giant and he will do his best to take the club back to glory days.

“It’s a sleeping giant and it is ready to be awakened. This club was top of the pile in the 80s and can get back there again. I look forward to working with the players as we have got some tough fixtures ahead of us,” said Kerr as per Soccerladuma.

Kerr came to South Africa after leading Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia to two consecutive Kenyan Premier League titles between 2017 and 2018.

His previous stint in the Premier Soccer League was with Black Leopards between December 2018 and June 2019.

He then joined Baroka in the 2019/20 campaign and guided them to safety before joining TTM in 2020/21 and won Nedbank Cup title.

Kerr also served stints as Sammy Troughton’s assistant at Mpumalanga Black Aces‚ Thanda Royal Zulu and Nathi Lions before coaching in Vietnam and Tanzania.

Swallows sit at the foot of the DStv Premiership table with only two league wins in their last 31 games.
