Sudan Held To A Goalless Draw By Rwanda In Friendly

Sudan and Rwanda played out to a goalless stalemate in an international friendly played at Kigali Stadium on Thursday night.

The visitors went close to breaking the deadlock after just six minutes when Ismail Amjad ‘s shot sailed just wide of the upright.

Sudan were restricted to efforts from distance, while  Rwanda carved out their first opening in the 24th minute when Bienvenu Mugenzi headed wide of the mark from close range.

Rwanda nearly scored from a dead-ball situation in the 36th minute when Kevin Muhire  sent a shot over the crossbar, after getting on the end of Thiery Manzi ‘s delivery.

Fiacre Ntwali was called into action just before the break, as the Rwanda shot-stopper produced a good save to keep out Elsawi Elsamani’s effort from distance.

A minute after resumption Taha Abdelrazig went even closer, the Falcons of Jediane midfielder danced past a few challenges before firing inches wide of the right-hand post.

Ali Niyonzima should have broke the deadlock for Rwanda on the 56th minute but he scooped his effort over the bar from three-yards out.

Ismail Amjad should have given Sudan the lead in the 69th minute, the Al Ahly Shendi defender played a neat one-two with Yasir before seeing his effort denied by the crossbar.

Mohamed Mazin also squandered an opportunity to break the deadlock minutes later, as he fired wide of the mark from six-yards out.

Berhan Eldin Tia’s side piled on the pressure in the closing stages of the game but could not bypass a stubborn Rwanda defence.
