St George Goalkeeper Patrick Matasi Survives Harrowing Crash

St George and Kenya goalkeeper Patrick Matasi was involved in hallowing road accident on Tuesday afternoon.

Details of the accident are sketchy at the moment, but sources have revealed that it took place in Lessos in the region of Rift Valley, Kenya.

Apparently his car veered off the road before being written off with Matasi escaping with minor injures according to sources.

It is believed the Kenyan international lost control of his Mazda Demio and rolled off as he was en route from Western Kenya to Nairobi, and received medical attention on the scene.

The 33-year-old was understood to have been travelling with two family members at the time as St George squad was given time off after the completion of Ethiopian Premier League season.

Matasi joined St George in 2018 from Football Kenya Premier League side Tusker FC for undisclosed fee, six months after he joined the club from Posta Rangers.

He started out at the now defunct West Kenya Sugar FC in 2010, and then moved to AFC Leopards in 2011.

He won the Gotv Shield with Leopards in 2013 and, after falling out of favour at Leopards, he left the club for Posta Rangers in December 2014.
