Songne Yacouba has paid tribute to his former club Asante Kotoko and their supporters.

The Burkinabe striker signed for Yanga in mid-August in what was described as a “club record fee” believed to be in the region of €75,000.

The 29-year old forward arrived in Tanzania on Monday ahead of the new season that kicks-off on September 6.

He penned a farewell message on Thursday and wished the Porcupine Warriors all the best going forward.

“It’s been a wonderful journey with the Porcupine family,” said the Burkinabe in a message to the club on Thursday.

“We celebrated many victories and stood as one family in moments of defeats.

“I wish to thank the Board Chairman, Dr Kwame Kyei for his support and advice, the then management members, coaches, my teammates and the team doctors.

“Special thank you to the supporters and fans who made me feel special and happy during my time at Kumasi. I wish to say sorry to all those I offended during my days in the team.

“It has been a pleasure and an honour to play for the club with the most supporters in Ghana and the club of the century. Asante Kotoko will forever be part of my story and I wish them the best of luck for the future.”

After joining Kotoko from Malian giants Stade Malien in 2018, Yacouba went on to help the Ghanaian giants  qualify to the group stages of that year’s CAF Confederation Cup.

His rich of form saw him win several man-of the match gongs as well as May 2018 Ghana Premier League Player of the Month Award.
