Former Gor Mahia striker Meddie Kagere has ended speculation linking him with a move away from Tanzanian champions, Simba SC by signing a new two-year deal with the Msimbazi based club.

After a splendid 2018/19 campaign with the Tanzanian champions where he scored over 30 goals across all competitions and was subsequently named club player of the year, Kagere had been linked with a move to Zamalek who had reportedly tabled a huge bid for the Rwandan international.

Simba had through their spokesperson Haji Manara had insisted that the attacker was not for sale at any price and veteran has now committed to Simba’s course by signing a deal until June 2021. This has been confirmed by the club in a statement posted on their social media pages.

“The best player and best Scorer in Meddie Kagere will continue to be with us again for the next two seasons. This is an investment for us and remains very much with the champions,” Simba tweeted.

Kagere scored a number of key goals for the club in the league and the CAF Champions League where the team reached the quarter-final stage before they were bundled out by Congolese giants, TP Mazembe.

Once a fan favourite at Gor Mahia, Kagere quit the club in June 2018 when his contract with the club expired.
