Senegalese Goalkeeper Khadim Ndiaye Extends Contract With Horoya

Senegal goalkeeper Khadim Ndiaye has signed a three-year contract extension with Horoya AC which will keep him at the club until 2022, according to the Guinean club.

Senegal goalkeeper Khadim Ndiaye has signed a three-year contract extension with Horoya AC which will keep him at the club until 2022, according to the Guinean club.

The 34-year-old put pen on paper on Monday at Cheick Zaidi University hospital in Rabat while flanked by HAC president Antonio Souare and the club’s secretary general Kroutimi Kaba.

Ndiaye is undergoing recovery at the Moroccan hospital after successful surgery, having suffered a double leg break while playing in the second leg of their African Champions League quarter-final at Wydad Casablanca on Saturday.

“Khadim Ndiaye was at the end of the contract, in 2019, but we wanted to secure his immediate future by extending his contract for three years from today,” the club president said.

Ndiaye collided with his teammate Boubacar Samassekou, suffering the horrific injury. He is expected to face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

His injury comes as a worry for the Teranga Lions ahead of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where they have been drawn against Algeria, Kenya, and Tanzania.

The 28-time capped Ndiaye made his debut for the Teranga Lions against DR Congo in 2009.

Since Aliou Cisse’s appointment as Senegal national team head coach in 2015, Ndiaye has become his country’s first choice keeper.

He played all the three matches as Senegal narrowly failed to make it to the second round of the 2018 summer World Cup in Russia.

“When he went to the World Cup, he said to the whole world that he would not leave the club, even if the Barcelona offered him a contract. In turn, we offer him a place for life in our club. We thank all the Senegalese people for the support they show us because of Khadim Ndiaye,” added Souare.

Ndiaye joined Horoya in 2013 from Senegalese outfit ASC Diaraf having made a return to Dakar from Swedish club Kalmar FF.
