Senegal’s Teranga Lions have ended 2018 as the best team in Africa according to the recent FIFA World rankings.

The team has however remained stagnant at position 23rd on the global ladder according to the ranking released on Thursday.

Majority of African countries remained motionless as a result of few international games having been played in the month of December.

Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone climbed up one position each to 114 and 115 which was affected by the Philippines slipping two spots after two defeats since November’s rankings.

Guinea-Bissau also moved up one place to joint 120 with Tajikistan and for the second month running, Liberia also stagnated at position 150 with 1051 points.

Zambia remains the only African side that moved down as they are now at position 83, having been leapfrogged by Oman on the back of two wins in the last month.

Belgium is at the top spot of the rankings followed by world champions France, Brazil, Croatia, England, Croatia, Portugal and Uruguay.
