Seedorf Names Indomitable Lions Replacements for Malawi Clash

Cameroon coach names five replacements in teh squad that will face Malawi in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.

Cameroon national team head coach Clarence Seedorf has named five replacements for his squad to face Malawi in a back to back 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers this week.

Seedorf was dealt a blow following the withdrawals of Clifton Njie, Vincent Aboubakar and Stephane Bahoken, with Felix Oboa the latest to have been confirmed unavailable, due to injury.

The quartet all picked up ailments in their recent fixtures this past weekend, and have not made the trip with the team to their base in Yaounde.

Russian based midfielder Petrus Boumal of FK Oural has been included to help bolster the initially selected four mid-fielders.

Mauripol’s defender Joyskim Dawa Tchakounte, Royal Mouscron’s attacker Fabrice Olinga, Portugal based Joel Taugueu and Astra Giurgu’s workhorse Jacques Zoua have since been called up to the camp.

Pierre Kunde, Paul George Ntep, Christian Bassogog, Fabrice Ondoa, Gaetan Bong, Oyongo Bitolo and Fabrice Olinga are among the invited players that arrived at the camp on  Sunday evening.

Cameroon and Malawi will square off in a top-of-the-group clash at the Aamadou Ahidjo Stadium on Friday afternoon. Kick-off is set for 1500h.

The clash is Cameroon’s formality game, but for Malawi, it is an important fixture counting for match day three of the qualifiers.
