Saudi-Based Tunisian Striker Youssef Angry Over AFCON Snub

Fakhreddine Ben Youssef is displeased at French coach Alain Giresse for omitting him from his final squad.

The announcement of Tunisia’s national squad bound for the Africa Cup of Nations has left a key player fuming.

Fakhreddine Ben Youssef is displeased at French coach Alain Giresse for omitting him from his final squad.

The attacker, plying his trade with Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittifaq, was given 81 minutes run in Tunisia’s friendly 2-1 win over Iraq on Friday hours before Alain announced his roster.

However, the 27-year-old, capped forty-two times by the Carthage Eagles, feels disappointed with the decision.

“Excellent but don’t forget that there are experienced players who have contributed to the construction of this selection,” he said in the aftermath of the Iraq exhibition game.

Ben is trimmed from the team along with Nader Ghanderi who features for Belgian second-tier outfit KV Westerlo.
