Rwanda’s Police FC On Verge Of Losing Key Players In Transfer Window

Rwanda Premier League outfit Police FC may lose eight of their key players in June transfer widow, Ducor Sports can reveal.

Rwanda Premier League outfit Police FC may lose eight of their key players in June transfer window, Ducor Sports can reveal.

The Kibungo-based side could face difficult times after it emerged on Tuesday that several players had requested to leave if the club doesn’t give them an improved package after the expiry of their contracts.

A source privy to happenings at the club told Ducor Sports that the management is reluctant to give the players what they want.

“It is not going to be easy unless the management gives in to demands from players. Every player in Police FC is now a target for top clubs in the region, and any club that comes with a better offer, they will definitely leave,” the source revealed.

The efforts of the lethal striking duo of Dominique Ndayishimiye and Osée Iyabivuze, defenders Mohamed Mpozembizi and Celestin Ndayishimiye, midfielder Eric Ngendahimana and forwards Jean-Paul Uwimbabazi and Issa Bigirimana are counted as a great deal as the law-enforcers fight for the Premier title.

However, Police spokesperson CIP Maurice Karangwa is certain that his team will remain bound come next summer, after assuring reporters on Wednesday that the club is keen to keep the players but hinted they would allow “unhappy” players to leave in order to protect the spirit in his camp.

“It is important to keep them otherwise we would struggle in building the team for next season. All teams always wish to keep their best players. We are aware that some rival teams may try to lure them out of Police, which is why we have started negotiations early.”

Police are currently third on the 16-team table with 43 points, 14 behind runaway leaders APR while defending champions Rayon Sports are second at 51 points.
