Reports: FIFA Boss Infantino Falls Out With African SG Samoura, Wants Her Replaced

Football boss Gianni Infantino has fallen out with his Senegalese-born Secretary General Fatma Samoura, reports say.

Football boss Gianni Infantino has fallen out with his Senegalese-born Secretary General Fatma Samoura, reports say.

In an article by French publication Le Monde and relayed by some respected publications, the two executives’ sudden rift is linked to Samoura’s purported breach of FIFA ethics, conflict of interest and disclosure of confidential information.

The Dakar-born’s alleged involvement in Morocco’s 2026 World Cup bid is also another reason for her strenuous ties with 48-year-old Gianni, including a reported amorous relationship with compatriot and controversial El-Hadji Diouf.

As a result, the Swiss-Italian is agitating to get Samoura replaced in the forthcoming world football congress billed for June 5th in which Gianni is tipped to win over a second mandate.

“I would not be surprised if Infantino wants to get rid of his general secretary, I learned that he was not so happy with her anymore,” Le Monde quotes an insider, believed to be a top FIFA executive member.

How true this story is remains to be seen with the Lausanne-based organization yet to repudiate these claims.
