Rayon Sports Striker Linked With a Move to Gor Mahia

Highly rated Burundian striker Jules Ulimwengu is believed to have attracted the interest of Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia ahead of the new season set to kick-off on August 30.

Highly rated Burundian striker Jules Ulimwengu is believed to have attracted the interest of Kenyan Premier League champions Gor Mahia ahead of the new season set to kick-off on August 30.

K’Ogalo are lining up the Rayon Sports marksman as a suitable replacement for Jacques Tuyisenge, who joined Angolan side Petro Atletico.

Discussions between Rwandese football agents and their Kenyan counterparts are in the works, finalising all the paperwork, ahead of the player’s planned visit to Nairobi.

“Jules Ulimwengu is a Burundian striker who played for his senior national team in various competitions. He is a player who has an excellent final touch. There is a possibility that he will be coming to Kenya to link up with Gor Mahia,” said a source.

Ulimwengu netted 12 times as he inspired Rayon to their ninth Rwanda Premier League title in May, a feat that booked them a spot to the CAF Champions League next season.

The 20-year-old forward was until recently playing for Sunrise FC, a top-flight side based in Eastern Rwanda, before making a record $9,000 move to Gikundiro.

Rayon Sports are demanding $150,000 from Gor Mahia in order to let Ulimwengu go, as the player has 18 months to the end of his contract.

If the move is complete, Ulimwengu will become the second Burundian striker to play for K’Ogalo after his compatriot Francis Mustapha, who joined the club last season on a two-year deal.
