Raja Casablanca Announce Congolese Signing

Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca have announced the signing of Congolese striker Ben Malango from TP Mazembe.

Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca have announced the signing of Congolese striker Ben Malango from TP Mazembe.

The 23-year-old, who has been one of the key players at Mazembe, has signed a three-year-deal and he joins another Congolese Fabrice Ngoma who was acquired recently from AS Vita.

“We are pleased to announce the signing of Congolese International Ben Malango. We wish him all the best in his stay,” Raja said in a statement.

Malango, known for his darting runs and skilful dribbles, has been lured to Raja before but his former club turned down the advances.

With the striker showing his interest in not playing for Mazembe, a move away from Lubumbashi, where he scored a total of ten goals in 25 appearances for the Raven last season alone, was imminent.

Malango will only be able to feature for the Green Eagles in continental football if they make the group stage of either the CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup.

Raja, who are three-time Africa champions, also recently signed Malian Salif Coulibaly and Moroccans Hamid Ahaddad, Omar Arjoun and Mohsine Moutouali.

The Green Eagles have been overshadowed in recent years by neighbours and fierce rivals Wydad Casablanca, who have won the Champions League and been runners-up in the past three editions.
