Primeiro de Agosto and TP Mazembe shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in a CAF Champions League Group A match played at Estádio 11 de Novembro in the Angolan city of Luanda on Friday.

The hosts started the better of the two sides and dominated possession for most of the opening exchanges.

However, it was the visitors who took the lead in the 8th minute through Reinford Kalaba who peeled off his marker to head in from the near side.

There was much higher tempo in the game following the opening goal and the Angolans started stamping their authority in the game in the hope of getting the equaliser.

Glody Nkonza should have doubled the lead minutes after the opener but the midfielder blasted over with only Neblu to beat.

Jose Macania was the first man to test the goalkeeper a minute later as he rose high to meet a free-kick from Mario Balburdia, but he was denied by Chongo on the line.

Agosto asked further questions three minutes afterwards as they yielded bodies to the last third and were rewarded in the 12th minute as Cristivao Mabululu capitalized on Sylvain Gbohouo bladder for an equalizer.

Mazembe set up very offensively from 20th minute which forced Agosto to sit on the edge of the box and deploy a counter-attacking approach while managing the interplay from Dannis Masaunguna and Jose Macaia.

Jackson Muleka nearly brought the stadium to life with a 30-yard free-kick outside the area, but Agosto shot-stopper Adilson Cipriano da Cruz parried it to safety on the half-hour mark.

Agosto were presented with a chance late in the half but Isaama Mpeko did well to clear away Emmanuel Gundikama’s goal-bound effort, with Gbohouo well beaten.

Napoleo Brandao was looking for the go-ahead goal and introduced the likes of Mongo Kipe and Nelson da Luzin in the 64th minute, while Mihayo introduced Elvia Ipamy as well.

Agosto were presented with another chance in the 70th minute, but Jose Macaia managed to head over from close range.

In the 77th minute, Macaia forced another save from the Mazembe goalkeeper before Papel headed just wide six minutes later.

Gbohouo was called into action again in the 80th minute, palming a free-kick from Mongo over the crossbar, before blocking another good shot from Bua two minutes later.

In the final minutes, there was end to end action as Nathan Sinkala forced a good save from Neblu in the 86th minute before Mulota Kabangu saw his effort coming off the inside of the post a minute later.

Then in the 89th minute, Agosto almost capitalised from another quick break which saw Mabululu breaking free on the right, but he failed to grab his brace and a late winner as he dragged his shot wide of the far post.
