Porto Exit Looms For Striker Vincent Aboubakar

Portuguese side Porto could be set to part ways with one of their strikers during the next transfer window, according to sources.

Striker Vincent Aboubakar is once again linked with an exit from Porto, due to his lack of game-time. As it was the case last season, when the forward was linked with an exit from the Dragons, the 28-year-old is again counted among players linked with the Estadio do Dragao exit this season.

The Cameroon international has struggled for regular game time coupled with regular injuries at Porto for the better part of the season.

“Vincent Aboubakar might leave Porto in August. He is not enjoying any game-time at the club this season. The club is likely to add him to the list of players to be offloaded ahead of the new campaign,” said the source.

There are rumours that only guaranteed game-time would convince the striker to stay at Porto but English Premier League side West Ham seems interested in acquiring his services.

Already the Hammers are willing to pay the striker’s €7 million release clause with Besiktas also reported to be the next destination for 2017 Africa Cup of Nations winners.

The Yaoundé-born joined Porto in 2014 from French side Lorient, signing a four-year deal, and once spent one season on loan with Turkish side Besiktas.

Aboubakar boasts of 20 goals in 63 appearances with the Cameroon Indomitable Lions.
