Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang: Gabon striker joins Chelsea

Former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emmerick Aubameyang has joined English Premier League side Chelsea on a two-year contract.

The 33-year-old returns to Premiership from Barcelona,where he scored 13 goals in 24 appearances for the Spanish La Liga giants.

“I’m really happy. It’s an honour to be part of this team and I can’t wait to start. I have some unfinished business with the Premier League so it’s good to be back and really exciting,” the ex-Gabon international said.

During his stint at Arsenal, Aubameyang netted 68 times over four years, averaging better than a goal every two games in all competitions.

He shared the English Premier League Golden Boot award in 2018/19 alongside Liverpool duo Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

The France-born star won the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2020, adding to trophies collected with Borussia Dortmund in Germany and Saint-Etienne in France.

He is expected to be in action in three weeks time as he is expected to recover from a jaw injury that sustained hen armed robber attacked his home few days ago.
