Percy Tau: Striker Leaves Al Ahly By Mutual Consent

Al Ahly striker Percy Tau has left the club by mutual consent, according to South African sports  pay television channel Supersport.

The 28-year-old joined the Red Eagles in August 2021 but departs having made only 25appearances in all competitions for the Egyptian Premier League side.

The former Brighton and Hove Albion player has not made any appearance since a goalless stalemate against Pharco three weeks ago.

Thereafter it was reported that he picked up a muscle injury and looked set to miss Al Ahly’s four remaining league games of the season.

By that time Tau had already been placed on the transfer-list alongside Ali Lofti Mostafa Shobier, Mahmoud Wahid, Mohamed Mahmoud and Mahmoud Metwaly.

The Bafana Bafana striker joined Al Ahly from Brighton & Hove Albion for a transfer fee of £1.6million back in the summer of 2021.

Brighton had signed the striker from Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018 and because of concerns over his readiness for the Premier League and his ability to get a work permit, he was loaned to Union St Gilloise in the Belgian second division.

He was sent on loan again to Anderlecht before being recalled by Albion in January 2021 after spending two-and-a-half years in Belgium
