The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced that Norwegian referee Svein Oddvar Moen will officiate the Egyptian Super Cup game between Al-Ahly and Zamalek on Thursday.

The match kicks off at 9:00 pm Cairo local time at Mohamed bin Zayed Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.

The Red Devils will enter the encounter as the Egyptian Premier League title champions, while the White Knights will be facing them as the Egypt Cup title holders.

Moen will be joined by assistants Magnus Lundberg and Kim Tomas Haglund with Tore Hansen as the fourth official for the match.

Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will also be used in the Super Cup match, with two Croatian referees expected to be in charge of the system during the game.

The 41-year-old arbitrator also officiated the Cairo derby in 2016 and he was also in charge of the Egypt Cup final in 2017 when Ahly defeated Masry 2-1.

He was in charge of some high-profile matches in European football, including the Euro 2016 finals where he officiated Wales-Slovakia and Ukraine-Poland in group stages.

The clash marks the fourth time the Super Cup has been held in the UAE, following its relocation to Al Ain in 2016.

Ahly are the record winners of the Super Cup with 11 titles, seven clear of Zamalek.
