Nigeria’s League Title-Chase Gets Tenser

The race for the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) title is getting tenser with only two points separating second-placed MFM and table leaders Plateau United.

Both sides picked wins in their respective weekend fixtures with United beating Shooting Stars 2-0 while Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) labored to a 1-0 win over bottom-placed Remo Stars.

Third-placed Akwa United also remain within touching distance of the prized trophy with just four and seven points behind MFM and Plateau, respectively. It all could get trickier as the league nears its end with only four games remaining.

In other Sunday results; Katsina United drew relegation-threatened ABS 2-2 who’ve registered only eleven wins in thirty-two games while fourth-placed Enyimba, cruised to a 1-0 win over Kano Pillars.

Gombe United and Lobi Stars fought to a goalless draw, as was the same for the fixture between Abia Warriors and Ifeanyi Ubah.

Nasarawa United had the better of Niger Tornadoes, winning 1-0 while EL Kanemi Warriors sailed over Akwa United, also on a similar score.

Wikki Tourist swaggered to a 2-1 triumph past Sunshine Stars at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium.
