Nigeria’s Ajayi to Extend Al Ahly Contract

Junior Ajayi is on the cusp of signing the dotted lines extending his stay at Al Ahly of Egypt.

Junior Ajayi is on the cusp of signing the dotted lines extending his stay at Al Ahly of Egypt.

The Nigeria striker’s current deal at the Red Devils ends June next year.

Players with a year left of their deals are permitted to discuss terms with suitors, prompting Al Ahly to avoid that situation, swiftly making the Super Eagles’ man a new contract offer.

The hot-shot has been a mainstay in Al Ahly’s campaign winning a combined four trophies, two being league titles since joining from CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in 2016.

Negotiations over a new deal have been ongoing with only the final touches delaying completion of the process.

“Ajayi is one the verge of signing a new contract, only the final touches are missing,” Sayed AbdelHafiz, Al Ahly’s Sporting Director confirms today afternoon.

“It will be done in a couple of days. What slowed the process is that we didn’t have any rest since returning from Tanzania.”

“We then had a very important game against Entag El-Harby in the league, we will end everything soon,” he said.”

Valued in excess of €2m, the 23-year-old goal-getter was linked with a move to Sporting Lisbon last May but nothing concrete came of the rumor.
