Nigerian Striker Silences Algerian Critics with Hat-trick

Former Super Eagles’ man Uche Nwofor scores a hat-trick for Algerian Premier League outfit JS Kabylie.

Former Super Eagles’ man Uche Nwofor has silenced critics with his hat-trick for Algerian Premier League outfit JS Kabylie.

The 26-year-old came on the receiving end of severe criticisms from the Algerian media after going a two-game stretch without scoring.

The attacker, bought to provide answers to Kabylie’s profligacy up front, did not have a good start in the team’s pre-season in Germany.

First he had to put up with delay in the issuance of his visa, arriving in camp late before the media began tearing into him for going a whole two-game without scoring.

There were even claims that the club was evaluating terminating his contract two weeks after signing him for a fee in excess of €250,000 from Nigerian first division giants Rivers United.

But Nwofor responded in JSK’s final pre-season duel, slamming in a hat-trick with the opener coming in the 57th minute, his second ten minutes later and the third in the 85th minute in an encounter the African side trounced lower division outfit Lebach 7-0.

The Lagos-born will now hope his newfound scoring form helps him gain confidence ahead start of the Algerian Professional Championship.

He is expected to travel back to Ibadan to sort out personal issues before returning to Algiers.
