Nayef Aguerd Speaks Following His Official Unveiling As West Ham Player

New West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd believes he has made the best decision following his move to the Cockney Boys.

The former FUS Rabat and Djion defender ditched Rennes for the David Moyes coached side on Monday, and he says he is looking for another challenge after a successful stint with the Red and Blacks.

“West Ham is a historic Club,” the 26-year-old told West Ham TV. “I saw a few West Ham games this year, and I saw the fans and the atmosphere were fantastic, with the bubbles!

“I spent two wonderful years at Rennes. I will never forget these years, but it was time to go and reach another club and another ambition. I was really excited when I heard that West Ham were interested in me.

“Why not try for the five places in the Premier League? We’ll see. It’s going to be hard, for sure, but we’ll do everything to make everyone happy.”

The Moroccan international made 31 appearances for Rennes last season where he averaged one interception, one tackle and 4.1 clearances per game.

He was described by Get Football News France as a brilliant left-footed defender as he possesses exceptional ball-playing ability.

Aguerd has 25 caps for Morocco and becomes the fourth-highest paid by West Ham behind only those for Sebastien Haller, Felipe Anderson and Kurt Zouma.
