Napsa Stars Opponents Gor Mahia To Arrive Hours Before Kickoff

Gor Mahia are set to arrive in Zambia hours before kickoff of their African Confederation Cup playoff clash against Napsa Stars.

Gor Mahia are set to arrive in Zambia hours before kick-off of their African Confederation Cup playoff clash against Napsa Stars.

The Kenyan champions will depart from Nairobi on Sunday ahead of second leg clash set to be played at Heroes Stadium in Lusaka.

Gor Mahia’s arrival in Zambia was delayed by visa complications, and as at Friday evening, the team was yet to land in Lusaka as earlier planned.

A top team official has confirmed to Ducor Sports that they had sent a request to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) asking for the game to be rescheduled to Monday, but their plea has been dismissed.

The travelling squad comprising 23 players will now depart Nairobi at the wee hours of Sunday morning and will arrive in Lusaka before midday with a layover in Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa Airport.

Gor Mahia’s late arrival means they’ll have less than 12 hours to overcome jetlag before taking to the field against the Pensioners at the Heroes Stadium.

Napsa Stars go into the match carrying an advantage after winning the away fixture 1-0 courtesy of Daniel Adoko late strike last Sunday.

With their Kenyan visitors expected to get into the match without ample time to shake off jet lag, Napsa could enjoy some further advantage against their opponents.

Winning this round of the competition will earn the Pensioners a place in the group stages of the competition.
