Napsa Stars Coach Mohamed Fathi Put On Administrative Leave

Napsa Stars have confirmed they have placed coach Mohamed Fathi on administrative leave after back to back defeats in FAZ/MTN Super League.

First assistant coach Chintu Kampamba will lead the team for the foreseeable future as it looks as though the Egyptian coach’s time at the Pensioners is up.

Also placed on administrative leave include club’s technical director Honor Hamza, Logistics manager Gift Chaipa and club administrator Chiboleka.

Napsa are currently in the relegation zone in 15th place with only 36 points accumulated from 28 games played so far.

Napsa had won three games in a row before a humiliating 4-1 loss to Nkana, who are also battling relegation. That was followed by a 4-2 thrashing by Green Eagles at the weekend.

The Egyptian coach Fathi joined Napsa Stars June 2018 replacing Elijah Chikwanda who was fired after a series of poor results.

Fathi made history in February after guiding Zambian club to the CAF Confederation Cup group-stages.

Napsa had qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history following their fourth-place finish last season in the Zambian Super League.

They thrashed Ngazi Sport of Comoros 9-2 on aggregate in the Preliminary round, before getting past Mozambique’s UD Songo and Kenya’s Gor Mahia first round and second round respectively.
