Guinea national team midfielder Naby Keita has tested positive for the coronavirus along with teammates Francois Kamano, Ibrahima Kone, Ibrahima Camara and Florentin Pogba, according to Foot224.

The Liverpool superstar will now go to quarantine for next 14 days, ruling him out of the Syli Nationale’s next international friendly against the Gambia.

Keita should be back in action for his club’s UEFA Champions League, Group D opening clash against Ajax away at the Amsterdam Arena.

The 24-year-old was absent as Guinea sealed a 2-1 victory over Cape Verde in their first international friendly that was played at Estadio Municipal de Albuferia in Portugal.

The Conakry-based publication added that Guinea will now face the Gambia on Tuesday without several senior players, and if new cases are detected, the match will be cancelled.

Keita and the rest of the Syli Nationale squad underwent tests on Wednesday, with the results returned on Friday before a secondary test confirmed his case on Sunday morning.

The midfielder played his last match with the Guinea national team in November last year and is one of the stars expected to shine in the upcoming back-to-back Nations Cup qualifiers against Chad.
